Jay-Z announced his plans to host an event by the name of “Made In America” festival in Philly last week. Since then it’s been a major topic of talk and we all have been anticipating the lineup and the ticket sale start date May 23rd.
First releasing a video of the event with H.A.M. playing in the background, concert-goers, and the title “Made In America” that no one knew what it was or what Jay was getting at. He left minds curious and when he finally had a press conference letting the world in on what he was cooking up I know for myself I was excited to hear of the news and looking forward to attending in September. It’s a 2-day event happening on Sept. 1st and 2nd featuring 28 acts of all different music genres and Jay-Z himself expected to headline the event. I think this will be yet another epic moment in Hip-Hop to remember and live on in our hearts and minds forever. Jay-Z always has a way of doing that with his business savvy mindset that no one else could ever emulate.
Jay-Z is organizing this “Made In America” Music Festival sponsored by Budweiser on Labor Day Weekend. The concert series will be held at Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park. At the press conference in Philly Jay was accompanied on stage by Freeway (you read correctly). He annoucned that 70 percent of the lineup has already been confirmed, but did not give out any of those names. This was the same day he spoke to CNN as well after his press conference.
Portions of the proceeds will be donated to the greater area of Philadelphia’s United Way. Tickets will be available on LiveNation and ticketmaster this Wednesday at 10am. For more information go to the “Made In America” festival website: www.madeinamericafest.com
The setlist so far includes artists like Santigold, Odd Future, Drake, Miike Snow, Pearl Jam, D’Angelo, Skrillex, and Afrojack. It’s not the entire lineup, but for now it’s a few of those that will be rocking at the event. I will have the remainder posted as they are revealed. The rest are supposed to be announced later today. According to Global Grind, the 2-day event is rumored to include a superstar lineup of OVER 28 artists who are all leaders of their respective genres. We shall see.
Let us know what you think of the event, the lineup so far? Will you be there? Comment below.
